The 100-year anniversary, and future, of Charlotte's all-Black Second Ward High School.

Charlotte’s original high school for African American students celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Second Ward High School was demolished in the 1960s, part of Charlotte’s Uptown urban renewal. Old promises to build back the school were unkept back then. But now, CMS has plans for a new Second Ward High School. The lessons we can still learn from an old school that’s long gone.
