(lighthearted music) - With music, reflection, and inspiring messages, "Seeds of Remembrance" offers a compassionate space for anyone grieving any kind of loss.
Joining us in the studio right now to share more is Laura Bradbury.
Laura, thank you so much for being here.
- It's so good to be here with you.
- There is so much going on in the world right now, and so many people going through grief and having to figure out how to deal with that.
What does it mean to you to be able to provide this as a resource for the community?
- Well, I think that it's incredibly valuable for grieving people to realize that they're not alone.
Grief can feel so very isolating, yet at the same time, it's very universal.
We all experience it at some point, and so being able to come together and connect with other people and realize, "Hey, you know, this is really hard.
This is really difficult work I'm doing, but I'm not the only one doing it."
That's uplifting in and of itself for a lot of people.
- Yeah.
A lot of times that can be the hardest step, just kind of stepping out and being amongst other people.
Why should people consider doing this?
- I think there's just real value in community.
There's something about sharing pain and suffering with other people that lessens the impact of it long-term.
You know, again, grief tends to be isolating.
It drives people to want to sort of turn inward, which is helpful to some extent, but being able to find community and find others who are experiencing something similar, really goes a long way to make healing possible.
People can support one another, and also receive support from others.
- And that kinda falls into the theme for this year of what the event's all about.
Can you talk about that?
- Yeah, so our theme this year is "Uniquely Irreplaceable: Grief and Resilience, and Why the World Needs Us in It."
There's a lot going on in that theme, but we really wanna send the message to people that this is meaningful work that they're doing, it's valuable work that they're doing, and that they're not alone.
- Yeah, they're not alone.
Well, thank you for being here, and if you would like to get more information about this event and attend, it's May 12th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, "Seeds of Remembrance" at the College of Social Work.
