How I like to help out my community is through running a reading competition for elementary and middle schoolers.
For the past three years, we've been gathering students from all over DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia to participate in a competition where they work together in teams to answer questions about books that they've read.
I think my work is important because part of growing kids into lifelong learners is by growing them into lifelong readers.
And it's been really rewarding to see kids get really excited about reading through the competition.
-Like these students, you too can help improve the lives of so many people by volunteering in your town and community.
