New tonight, a state senator may have to miss part of it because of a serious injury.
State Senator Amanda Maes Bledsoe of Lexington says she was kicked in the face by her family's horse on Friday.
She underwent emergency surgery over the weekend.
In a statement, she thanked first responders and the medical team at the University of Kentucky Trauma Critical Care Center.
Senator Mays Bledsoe says she expects to make a full recovery with no long term or permanent damage, and she anticipates returning to Frankfort as soon as possible.
The Republican represents Boyle, Mercer, Woodford and part of Fayette County.
She was first elected to the state Senate in 2022.
