Senate Minority Leader Gloria Butler (D-Stone Mountain) announced her retirement to the Senate today. After her daughter inspired her to run for a Senate seat in 1998, Sen. Butler made history as the state’s first black woman to hold a leadership position in the legislature, and making friends on both sides of the aisle along the way.
