A new visitor center in Hanford, invites science enthusiasts of all ages to explore astrophysics.
The LIGO Exploration Center's dozens of exhibits, help translate Nobel Prize winning research and discoveries.
To explain astrophysics to kids, the center uses Slinkys, magnets, pendulums, funny sounds, and even a cosmic dance floor.
Just a couple hundred feet away from the Exploration Center, the Observatory acts as a ginormous microphone.
Capable of picking up sounds from black holes and colliding neutron stars.
Now, these sounds are actually gravitational ripples in space time.
The LIGO Exploration Center is open Tuesdays through Fridays.
