Seattle arts events are back, but audiences?
Not quite.
Attendance numbers across Seattle venues hover well below pre-pandemic levels, according to a new Crosscut survey.
Some venues noted that visitor concerns about dwindling parking options, downtown safety, construction traffic, and COVID safety on public transit have added to a general hesitancy to return to in-person events.
Many survey participants noted another trend.
The pandemic seems to have shifted people's behavior in a more fundamental way than previously thought.
Ingrid Langston of the Frye Art Museum said people are approaching their social outings much more selectively than in pre-pandemic times, or perhaps have become used to accessing content virtually.
