WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE A THEATRE SUPERVISOR?
>> I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXECUTION AND PROGRAMMING OF THEATRE FOR THE CITY OF DUBLIN.
>> THAT IS QUITE A BIT, AND WHAT ARE WE GOING TO MAKE TODAY?
>> THIS IS ACTUALLY A RECIPE THAT I STARTED TO MAKE WHEN I WAS SINGING FOR MY SUPPER.
I WAS A PERFORMER TRAVELING ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, AND THIS IS A GO-TO, BECAUSE I COULD MAKE IT AND PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE AND THEN AFTER A LONG DAY OF REHEARSAL, I COULD HAVE IT READY TO GO.
SO THIS IS A SEVEN-LAYER DIP, AND YOU COULD MAKE IT FOR THE MASSES, AND IT IS VERY GOOD.
>> SO IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES.
LIKE YOU SAID, YOUCAN MAKE IT, AND PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE, AND IT IS ABLE TO MODIFY IT.
>> YES, YOU CAN SPICE IT UP IF YOU WANT IT HOTTER.
>> OKAY.
TELL US WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED.
>> ONE CAN OF BLACK BANE, ONE JAR OF HOT SAUCE, SOME SALSA VERD, AND SOUR CREAM AND BLACK OLIVES.
>> TELL US WHAT YOU DO WITH THE THEATRE.
>> WE SPARK THE CURIOSITY AND EMPATHY AND HUMANITY, AND WE LIGHT THE SPARK FROM YOUNG KIDS TO SENIOR CITIZENS.
YOU CAN BE A PART THROUGH THE CLASSES OR THE PRODUCTIONS THAT WE OFFER THROUGH THE CENTRAL OHIO COMMUNITY.
>> IT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT MIX TO MEET AUDIENCES.
>> YES, IT IS A WONDERFUL THING, AND THE CITY OF DUBLIN OFFERS CLASSES TO THE CITIZENS AT LARGE AND WE ARE PROUD TO BE A PART OF THAT.
>> GREAT.
I WANT TO GET STARTED AND PUT THE DELICIOUS INGREDIENTS TOGETHER.
>> ALL RIGHT.
LET'S DO IT.
I USUALLY START WITH THE REFRIED BLACK BEANS.
>> YOU NEED A SOLID BASE AT THE BOTTOM.
>> SO KIND OF SMUSH IT.
>> YES.
OKAY.
I APPRECIATE THE SMUSH ASSISTANCE.
>> YES, YOU GET THE REFRIED BEANS DOWN.
>> YES.
AND THEN ADD THE AVOCADO.
AND WHEN I DO THAT -- THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME.
>> I'LL BE THE SOUS CHEF.
>> AND SO WHAT I DO IS TO PUT A LITTLE BIT OF VERDE IN THERE, SO THAT WE CAN BIND IT.
AND WE WILL SEE HOW IT GOES.
>> WE WILL SEE HOW IT WORKS.
AND YOU SPECIFICALLY USE THE SALSA VERDE.
>> YES, THIS IS THE ONE FOR THE MASSES, AND IT IS NOT TOO HOT, AND SO, JUST SMUSH IT AROUND THERE.
>> YES, I CAN DO THAT.
I LOVE THIS.
>> AND IF I WERE DOING IT FOR MYSELF, I LIKE IT SPICIER.
>> SURE.
>> AND I WOULD ADD ANOTHER INGREDIENT HERE AND I WOULD GET A SERRANO PEPPER AND CHOP IT UP AND FRY IT UP.
>> THAT SOUNDS AMAZING.
>> SO, AGAIN, YOU CAN MAKE IT TO WHATEVER PEOPLE'S SPICE TOLERANCE.
>> THIS IS THE CROWD PLEASER AT THE PARTY, AND EVERYONE IS GOING TO EAT IT.
>> THIS IS THE ONE THAT NOBODY YELLS AT ME THAT THEIR TONGUE IS ON FIRE.
>> GREAT.
WHAT IS NEXT?
>> I DO TWO LAYERS OF CHEESE INSTEAD OF ONE LAYER.
>> I HAVEN'T BEEN COUNTING, IS IT HOW MANY LAYERS?
>> I THINK THAT IT IS CALLED SEVEN LAYER, BUT THE LAST TIME I MADE IT, IT WAS 12.
SO IF THERE IS TWO LAYERS OF CHEESE, WELL, I'M A CHEESEAHOLIC.
>> YES, THERE NEEDS TO BE A LOT OF CHEESE.
>> OKAY.
ONCE YOU HAVE THAT, YOU CAN EITHER GO SALSA AGAIN AND THEN SOUR CREAM OR SALSA AND THEN SOUR CREAM, WHATEVER YOU ARE FEELING.
>> RIGHT.
>> AND SO, DO THE SOUR CREAM THERE.
>> SPREADING THE SOUR CREAM ON THE CHEESE CAN BE CHALLENGING.
>> YES, LIKE THE BINDING THERE.
>> LOCK IT IN.
>> AND DO THAT -- >> SPREADING IT.
>> I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT IT LOOKING FANCY.
>> BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO BE COVERED UP.
>> YOU GOT IT.
>> CAN YOU MAKE THIS IN ADVANCE?
>> YES.
LIKE IF YOU ARE GOING TO A PARTY.
>> THIS WHERE IT CAME FROM, BECAUSE AS THEATRE PEOPLE, WE ARE GETTING TOGETHER ESPECIALLY LIKE ON A SUNDAY OR SOMETHING.
>> YEAH.
>> AND YOU DON'T HAVE A REHEARSAL OR SOMETHING.
>> AND THEATRE PEOPLE, YOU ARE NOT WATCHING FOOTBALL.
>> EXACTLY.
>> AND SO, WE ARE GOING TO BE PUTTING IT IN THE SALSA AND SPREADING IT IN THERE.
>> YES.
>> AND SO, WE HAVE THAT AROUND.
>> YES.
>> AND SPREADING IT AROUND.
>> YES.
>> AND NOW WE GET THE FRESH GREENS.
>> YES.
A LITTLE BIT.
AND WE HAVE BEANS ON THE BOTTOM.
>> BEANS AND GREENS.
TOTALLY HEALTHY.
>> YOU COULD ALSO ADD IN SOMETIMES BLACK OLIVES IF YOU WANT.
>> I DON'T WANT THAT.
[ laughter ] >> YOU KNOW, THAT IS WHY I STOPPED DOING IT, BECAUSE I NEVER REALIZED HOW MUCH PEOPLE HAVE AN AVERSION TO THINGS.
>> YOU EITHER LIKE OR DON'T, BECAUSE THERE IS NO MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
>> AND I'M A FAN OF GREEN OLIVES, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO WITH THIS.
>> IT WOULD NEVER WANT TO HIDE THE HEALTHINESS.
>> SURPRISE PEOPLE.
>> AND WITH THIS, YOU COULD ADD CHOPPED TOMATOES.
>> YES, YOU COULD ABSOLUTELY DO THIS, AND THEN ADD THE PEPPERS ON TOP AS WELL.
>> AND SO, WE ARE JUST ABOUT DONE HERE.
>> THIS IS THE EPITOME OF A QUICK BITE.
>> SO SIMPLE.
>> AND THE VARIOUS DIPS.
I LOVE IT WITH CHIPS.
SOME PEOPLE JUST LITERALLY PUT IT IN THE BOWL, AND TAKE WITH IT.
A FORK OR SPOON.
>> AND ALSO WITH RICE AND TACO MEAT AND YOU COULD SCOOP IT ON A BOWL.
>> AND IF PROTEIN IS THE JAM, YOU CAN COOK UP SOME CHICKEN AND DICE IT AND PUT IT IN THERE, AND WITH ONE OF MY FRIENDS, LIKES TO GRILL UP SOME CHORIZO AND PUT IT IN THERE.
>> OH, YEAH, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.
>> EXACTLY.
>> THAT SOUNDS GOOD.
>> ME, TOO.
>> AND THAT IS SUPER EASY.
I CAN'T WAIT TO DIG IN, BUT I WANTED TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE, BECAUSE I HAVE LITTLE KIDS, AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE PROGRAMMING FOR LITTLE KIDS.
SO TELL ME A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THAT.
>> THANK YOU FOR ASKING ME ABOUT THAT, AND WE HAVE A SERIES CALLED THEATRE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND BEAR WITNESS TO.
AND SO WE HAVE SOME CLASSES THAT WE OFFER TO THE COMMUNITY AND TWO SPECIFICALLY TO REGISTER FOR AND THEN THEY TAKE THE CLASSES ON SATURDAY MORNINGS AND IT CULMINATES IN PERFORMANCES AND YOUTH ARTISTS AND NO FEAR TO BE REJECTED AND WE HAVE THE KIDS WHERE THEY ARE AT, AND TRAIN THEM, AND THEN THEY CAN FIND THEIR VOICE AND WEAR COSTUMES AND A FULL SET.
>> IT IS FOR KIDS AND BY KIDS, AND SO YOU HAVE OPTIONS FOR THE KIDS TO SEE THE SHOW OR PERFORM IN IT.
>> YES.
>> SO YOU CREATE THE SPARK IN SO MANY KIDS.
>> IT IS WONDERFUL TO SEE.
THERE IS NOTHING MORE GRATIFYING THAN TO HAVE A CHILD COME TO YOU, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY HAVE TREPIDATION, AND YOU BUILD THEM UP, AND YOU LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU ARE ENOUGH, AND YOU DO THIS AND HAVE THIS WITHIN YOU, AND SO IT IS REALLY GRATIFYING.
>> IT IS A GREAT PHILOSOPHY, AND BEFORE WE HAVE CHIPS ALL OVER US, WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE ABBEY THEATRE OF DUBLIN?
>> WELL, I THINK WHAT I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW IS THAT THERE ARE A TON OF OPTIONS FOR YOU EXPERIENCE ART IN THE SUBURBS, AND NOT JUST HERE DOWNTOWN.
YOU CAN EXPERIENCE ANYTHING FOR THEATRE FOR FAMILIES IN THE AUDIENCES, AND THERE IS A LOT OF THEATRE COMPANIES THAT WE COLLABORATE WITH TO PROVIDE VIBRANT THEATRE FOR ADULTS IN DUBLIN, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TAKE A WEEKEND TO GO SEE SOMETHING THAT IS PROFESSIONAL GRADE.
IT IS A STATE-OF-THE-ART THEATRE, AND WE ARE COMMITTED TO SERVING NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY.
>> THAT SO WONDERFUL, AND GREAT TO HAVE A RESOURCE FOR PEOPLE, AND YOU ARE RIGHT OUTSIDE OF DOWNTOWN AND SPREADING THEATRE LOVE.
I THINK THAT WE SHOULD DIG INTO THE AMAZING DIP HERE.

IF I WERE IN A PARTY OR AT HOME, I WOULD JUST STICK THE CHIP IN THERE.
