(quirky music) - [Sarah] I've never had anyone interview me about my shoes before; (people laughing in studio) sounded like it's gonna be interesting.

(quirky music) My name is Sarah Brokke and I am a painter.

Photography has been something I've always loved, but it's always been a means to support painting perhaps, or a means to support recording my daily life.

I won't say that it was a planful, "I'm gonna do this for a long time"-type activity, but I am always looking at the world around me in terms of composition and color.

That's something I'm doing constantly.

And my main attire, like many artists, is black, but with the exception of, I oftentimes will have different color tights and different color shoes, and then the addition, always, of whatever ground I'm standing on, how those colors interact; I find wildly satisfying.

Just the sense of play that you can get with something like that.

It's a playful act; it's a playful, creative, spontaneous act that I think we all could use more of.
