The way is never what it seems.
A blind man walks a life choosing steps you never see.
Higher tides rolling in.
A tree is worth more dead than alive.
A digital world of lies praising greed as the bottom line.
I hope you don’t mind working out deep philosophical issues now.
Oh, this life somehow.
Your chase a dream or climb that ladder ya yell out loud.
Either way I want you inside my life some how.
Some how.
Do do do do do do do do do.
Do do do do do do do do do.
Time runs in old shoes.
The laces break and ya learn to make-do.
A self worth journey.
Befriending my enemy.
Lonesome make-believe.
Holding hands, Not a blue lit screen.
Breathing every chance that reminds you of what’s real!
Oh, I hope you don’t mind working out deep philosophical issues now!
Oh, this life, some how.
Go chase a dream or climb that ladder ya, yell out loud.
Either way I want you inside my life somehow.
Oooooo I hope you don’t mind working out deep philosophical issues now!
Oh, this life somehow.
Go chase a dream or climb that ladder.
Ya, yell out loud.
Either way I want you inside my life somehow.
Love.
Love is a huge theme that comes in my songs.
Frustration.
I pay attention to, you know, the things that are happening in our world and in our country.
It's, it's an emotion.
I'm compelled to write about that stuff because it's.
It's us humans experiencing all of this at the same time.
I feel like, I'm not the only one experiencing it, so it's.
Why not sing about it or write about it?
Say something about it.
It's like, oh, you know, I listen to this idea or listen to someone say something about this or something, then it's like, oh, I can relate to that.
Yeah, maybe it's also just like hearing something and and feeling it in your body and then like, wow, that feels honest.
That feels true.
You know?
And it's I gravitate to that.
Hey there, girl, could you be nice to me?
Hey there boy, funny how your fear always leads.
Do you always believe what the limelight shows?
Do you ever take the time to listen till the end, or at least try to comprehend?
Oh, I could be a monster just by loving whom that I do I could be your monster by changing me to somebody new.
I could be your monster by defying the roles you’re pushing me in.
Well, it's a hard life spending your time hating for no good apparent reason.
Where is the man, the one with integrity?
Oh, I could hold his hand for eternity.
Do you always believe what the limelight shows?
Do you ever take the time to listen till the end, or at least try to comprehend?
Oh, I could be a monster just by loving him that I do.
I could be your monster by changing to somebody new.
I could be a monster.
by defying the roles you pushing me in.
Well, it's a hard life spending your time hating for no good.
apparent reason.
I'm riding down these roads.
Burning through a life well-lived looking for something to give me a sign.
Suddenly, as if time knew, woke up from a dream and found you looking at me trapped in a scene.
I was full of mud, hair messed up all around with nothing good.
There’s times I wish I would look at how you see this world and how you find its beauty all the time.
But standing still now it's clear, I never met a soul that so kind.
My dear, I'm just a broken hearted lover girl trying to be my best time.
Still scared to trust.
But little by little you're showing me how to be a better me.
000.
Whoa, oh, oh.
If this world could be a little more like you.
If this world could learn a little more from you.
This Minnesota farm girl and all she be.
There’s times I wish I would steal away from the lonesome road.
Stubborn, restless.
woman I’ve known to be.
But August skies carry me away, dreaming of a world with better days.
You turn my frozen morning to summer time afternoon.
Oh, that warm compassion takes a woman like you for my heart to feel some truth.
If this world could be a little more like you.
If this world could learn a little more from you If this world could love as deeply as you, this a Minnesota farm girl And all she be.
All she be.
Alllll she be.
After I, discovered that my friend Eric, who lives in Duluth, acquired some medical debt because of a disease, diabetes that, he was born with.
And I just sat down and it occurred to me, it's like, wow, here's this incredible human that is born on this earth.
And here is this institution and these humans that are charging money for this human to survive when it's an easy, fixable disease.
I just this this whole idea of humans making money off of humans.
You know?
And it's like he's born here.
Like, why, Why do you have to?
Why do we have to charge humans to live on this planet?
Is kind of what I concluded.
And I just kind of sat down and put that little instrumental together.
- Instrumental- Why don't you just shut up and leave me alone?
I don't care about your selfish tones.
You think you know how this world should be, but all I hear from you is me, I, me, me.
People are hurting, their hating these days.
I ask my doctor friend will this ever mend?
She said we don't have a cure for stupidity.
You better stop the symptoms that repeat history.
- vocal trumpet sounds - Boop, boop, boo.
Well, I don't claim to know everything in life.
Clearly now you’re hate is bright as daylight.
Turning a blind eye in a world you won't share.
Kneeling on the throat of a dream without a care.
Ya.
Ohh, oh, oh, oh.
doe, dodio,doe, doe.
Woo hoo hoo.
Do do do do do.
Ooooooo.
I spoke a little secret as you stepped out of the room.
I leaned a little closer, After all the Springs in bloom.
Thawed away what I waited to say.
I'm feeling a little braver these days.
Oooooo.
You came to my life.
Placed your prints all over me.
Called us to become like one that night gave me a song.
I got hooked by your smile.
Pulled me from a mile.
I'm feeling a little braver these days.
I'm feeling braver braver these days.
When I'm close to you.
When I’m close to you.
Ooooooh.
My heart hurries to love.
Steady moves leading this time.
Was feeling for a beat where our steps would fall aligned.
I got hooked by your style, pulled me from a mile.
Feeling a little braver these days.
Oh yeah, I'm feeling braver, braver these days.
When I am close to you.
When I'm close to you.
When I’m close to you.
When I’m Close to you.
You, hoo hoo hoo hoo!
I often struggle to convey, what some can simply say, those three little words.... I love You say to think before I speak.
Tongue-tied by honesty.
Clearly, I'm misunderstood.
But let me explain.
Those beads of sweat, toned arms, you pull me close and tight.
And then I go and say, baby, you're a radioactive pile of heat.
You're cooking me on your side of the bed.
Please.
We're getting older everyday.
I'm quite certain I display a few gray hairs by 33.
They say age is just a myth, the key to youth exists in our escape to a romantic spy living in a dream Hot pools, massage and steam.
We're feeling new again.
And then I go and say, baby, this new wrinkle cream helps with yours zits!
A two in one.
Isn't that fun?
BA ba ba boom.
Darling, I know it's true.
We fight and I run from you.
Blinded, deaf and confused, filled our space.
But round and round This chorus always sings of gratitude for you.
What do you say?
Let's take this day by day.
Yeah, yeah.
Hmmmm.
- trumpet sound by mouth - We like to sunbathe on the beach.
Go for walks, grab a treat, some tasty cookies and cream.
We'll spend an hour at the gym, I’ll lift weights, you go spin.
Feeling so good.
Let's head for home.
Let me explain.
These beads of sweat, toned arms.
You pull me close and tight.
And then I go say, baby, after you run, you taste like beef jerky.
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Darling, I know it's true.
We fight and I run from you.
Blinded, deaf and confused fill our space.
Hmmmm.
But round and round this chorus always sings of gratitude for you.
What do ya say?
Let's take this day by day.
Yay yay yay.
