In the spring of 1950 the living symbol of Smokey Bear, a 3-month-old black bear cub, was found in the aftermath of a wildfire that burned in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico. The little bear cub had climbed a tree to escape the blaze, but his paws and hind legs had been burned. This video has Ray Bell's son and granddaughter to tell us the story.
