The Snowy Plover Factory | Visiting Shorebirds on St. Joseph

Clip: Season 4 Episode 2 | 3m 50sVideo has Closed Captions

We head to St. Joseph Peninsula, dubbed the snowy plover factory by biologists.

Snowy plovers are a threatened species for one simple reason: humans love beaches. They lost significant habitat as coasts filled with hotels, condos, and restaurants. North Florida, however, has large tracts of protected coastline, which is why plovers have stronger numbers here than along most f the Gulf of Mexico. Here, we learn about the species and its nesting habits.
