Joel Brooks is running to represent the west side of Jersey City as a Democratic socialist

In Jersey City this year. Mayor Steve Fulop appears to be a lock for reelection. He has a seven-figure war chest and an opponent with little name recognition. Even the city council races are mostly predictable. But in Ward B, on the city's west side, progressives are looking to do something that hasn't been done here in probably, ever -- elect a socialist to a seat in government.
