State sends $4.5M to Paterson for school repairs

District superintendent says the funding is a help, but a fraction of what's needed

Twelve schools in Paterson will be receiving urgent repairs, after the city’s school district was awarded $4.5 million by the New Jersey Schools Development Authority for emergent repair and maintenance work. But the funding "doesn't even touch the surface unfortunately" of what's needed, said Eileen Shafer, superintendent of Paterson Public Schools district.
