Governor's centrist shift bothers his progressive base

Gov. Phil Murphy said in his State of the State address Tuesday that New Jersey is "once again leading in all the right things." Up to this point, that has meant progressive legislation on reproductive rights, same-sex marriage, the minimum wage and funding of state pensions. But as he focuses more on a national audience, Murphy appears to be pivoting to the center.
