With “Keep Your Voice Down, here's SOUR on WUFT Amplified.
So leave your bags at the front porch.
Ill walk you in through the back door.
Well sneak into my room and lay in bed.
We dont even have to worry.
Theres no way someone heard me.
So keep it to yourself.
I dont care what you say now.
Make sure you keep your voice down.
Well stay inside all day, and tell me all the things you hate about me.
The colors draining from my face.
With all the things you say, dont know what to believe.
You lie to me with ease.
Although your eyes still plead for something you dont need.
I dont care what you say now.
Make sure you keep your voice down.
Well stay inside all day, and tell me all the things you hate about me.
And now I dont know what to say.
And now I dont know what to say.
Please tell me what to say.
Run away from your misconceptions of me.
And hide away from anything wrong that you see.
Maybe its for the best that we dont get along.
Maybe its for the best I always assume that youre wrong.
Maybe its for the best that we dont see eye to eye.
Maybe its for the best that we never have the time.
Throw away those ideas that I hate.
And put away your pressures that await.
Maybe its for the best that we dont get along.
Maybe its for the best I always assume that youre wrong.
Maybe its for the best that we dont see eye to eye.
Maybe its for the best that we never have the time.
Maybe its for the best that we dont get along.
Maybe its for the best I always assume that youre wrong.
Maybe its for the best that we dont see eye to eye.
Maybe its for the best.
Thank you, thank you.
That's “Maybe it's for the Best” from SOUR on WUFT Amplified.
“Keep Your Voice Down” ahead of that.
So we've got a power trio in the studio with us this evening.
Tell us about how you guys came together and when.
Thats like a crazy story, I guess.
I met Jai firs before SOUR formed with Thomas, and I just met him outside the dining hall because he was holding drumsticks.
And then I went at the University of Florida Yeah, yeah, when we both were freshmen.
Yeah, yeah, I went up to him and harassed him and asked him to jam with me.
And then after he dodged me for a couple months, I finally got him.
It's true, I was very reluctant.
Very because it this random dude I'd never met, and he just gave me his phone number and was like, “hey, man, we should definitely play.” And I'm like, “yeah.” Did he tell you he was a musician also or?
I think he, yes, I think he was like, “Yeah, I play bass” or something.
I don't think it was very I don't think he was like, “Yeah man.
I'm like” I don't even think he told me his name.
I think you gave me your number and then texted me and you were like, oh yeah, this is Sam, by the way.
And I was like, “Ohh.” Well, like, you got it eventually.
But it was great.
Yeah.
And then, a friend of a friend of a friend Yeah told us about this man.
And then we all came together.
And the first rehearsal, we realized that they actually both knew each other, and we both knew each other, and we were all, like, through 6 degrees of separation, were kind of all friends.
Serendipity.
Yeah.
And some of the influences I'm hearing other power trios, I don't know you guys tell us who you like.
I guess one of my bigges influences has been Remo Drive.
I feel like I write that's like one of th bands that I listen to the most when I was startin to, like, actually play guitar.
So I guess I picked up a lo of their techniques on guitar.
Definitely them.
Another band that I kno Sam and I both listened to a lot is Title Fight.
That's a big one for us.
Title Fight is amazing.
Another band, TTNG, I feel like I got a lot from them on guitar as well.
Yeah.
Those are probably the biggest for me, I would say.
Yeah.
What about you, Jai?
I don't listen to anything that these guys listen to.
It was they introduced me to all the stuff that they like, and now I like it.
But I mean Big classic rock guy.
I mean, yeah, I grew up on Led Zeppelin, so it's like I've bee I was listening to “Black Dog” when I was five, so I was like, all those, like, I'm just.
Not soon afterwards you started playing the drums.
Yeah.
No.
Yeah.
Not soon at all, but no.
And then, just through that, it's like mainly my dad and my mom who just show which is all classic rock and just so many great drummer that come through those bands, it's just like John Bonham, Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Max Weinberg, Ringo Starr, just like, it's like a, you know, kind of an amorphous blend of that.
And then it's just a little bit of the jazz influence that I have because I started playing jazz when I was in middle school, and I've been playing jazz pro since I was like 13.
So it's just like doing tha has kind of also helped meld my the way I play with these guys.
You caught him on the one da he's not in his Bluecoats gear.
Oh, yeah.
I still got the necklace.
Well, let's hear another one.
Here's “Six Sides” from SOUR on WUFT Amplified.
Float around the room I still cant quite leave this place.
I want to burn it to the ground.
Wondering where I lost the key.
The door is locked.
I cry for help, I pound, I pound.
I wanna go outside this box Ive been living in.
I need to step on brand new ground.
Dont make me stumble and fall down and hurt again.
Dont even try to make a sound.
Open up the door.
Im free again, no one can stop me now.
Run away from home.
Its a prison cell, clear the way and dont back down.
I wanna go outside this box Ive been living in.
I need to step on brand new ground.
Dont make me stumble and fall down and hurt again.
Dont even try to make a sound.
Don't leave behind what youre running away from again.
Dont ever sleep, when youre looking behind youre blind.
Don't leave behind what youre running away from again.
Dont ever sleep, when youre looking behind youre blind.
I wanna go outside this box Ive been living in.
I need to step on brand new ground.
Dont make me stumble and fall down and hurt again.
Dont even try to make a sound.
I wanna go outside this box Ive been living in.
I need to step on brand new ground.
Dont make me stumble and fall down and hurt again.
Dont even try to make a sound.
Light peaks through my window.
At a quarter past noon.
Im waking up in my sweat again.
Back to the joke, to play the notes that help me let go.
If you ever notice the fears that hold close.
If youre there in the end, you scared them off so I could sleep with sour tones and eulogies.
Im with you in my dreams.
Whatever is meant to be, if I could keep you with me.
If I cant have you no one will.
The dead flies on the windowsill are drying out, like my mouth.
Their dead eyes are screaming out.
Youll never stop me now.
If you ever notice, complete my body and take my soul.
If youre there in the end, with everything Ill never know, with sour tones and eulogies.
You were right there in my dreams.
Whatever was meant to be, could I keep you with me?
For the sake of peace.
It was, it had to be.
But at least dont hate me.
Hey.
At least dont hate me.
Burned the wool blocking my eyes, but at least dont hate me.
I still getting used to the light.
Comatose everyday 9 to 5.
Sedating myself spun out in my room.
Just try to get by.
Pushing away anybody that can stand getting close to me.
All I can hope is youll bury whats left of me.
Just let me go.
With all my eulogies and sour notes, you were right there in my dreams.
So I swear I'll never sleep.
I cant ever go home.
I cant ever go home.
Maybe Im not really leaving alone.
I collected the pieces of myself from back home.
When Im sensing stability, I need to mess up everything.
I cant escape from reality.
But how much can you take?
When Im living 8 states away.
Count down the days left, savoring the moment while you're still next to me.
Next to me, Im incomplete.
The glass is about to break.
Halfway across the states, scraping together all the pennies Ill make.
But I could never miss you enough.
Now I am stuck in the memory of your smile, my love.
Im incomplete.
Without you next to me.
It could never be enough.
Enough.
Oh, Oh.
Thats “Potato” from SOUR on WUFT Amplified.
“Windowsill” and “Six Sides” ahead of that.
So, we got a call from some of our viewers.
They want to understand where the growling vocals come from and why.
That, actually, that comes from this one band that I love, Trophy Eyes.
And their whole thing is, like, just a really aggressive vocal take.
It's like a new, new kind of genre, almost, lik there's midwest emo, you know, mom jeans and that sort of thing.
We love that.
But it's like midwest screamo is kind of coming out now.
Its becoming like a lot more common in like the DIY scene and like emo scene now.
It's pretty cool.
I'm a big I'm a big fan of it.
Yeah.
I'm all for it.
Like that and like scramz kind of vocal stuff.
So that's really where we get that from.
Okay, awesome.
Well, lets hear some more music.
This is “Who I Want to Be” from SOUR on WUFT Amplified.
Real quick.
You can also check us out on Spotify.
Oh yeah.
We do have a Spotify.
We have an EP called Turmoil.
Or on any platform.
EP called Turmoil.
Go check it out.
My eyes are propped open by caffeine.
I was working late tonight because one guy wasnt out in time.
I wasnt trying to wake you up when I crawled in at 1:45.
The roommates in the kitchen, starting to get belligerent playing Catan.
I wonder if one day Im going to leave this, Ill take that job in retail an just steal what I need for free.
Is that who I want to be?
60 hours a week sounds like misery.
I tried to use my education, but I still make the minimum, so I guess Ill just choke on my pride.
Now that Im sinking, can you really believe that an of it was actually meant to be?
But when is it enough?
I broke everything that I touched to find the path that was meant for me.
Is that who I want to be?
All that time I give is sacrificed to nothing.
What difference is the end?
At least then I can start again and do something that will make me happy.

Maybe its for the best that we dont get along.
Maybe its for the best I always assume that youre wrong.
Maybe its for the best that we dont see eye to eye.
Maybe its for the best.
[WUFT Amplified closing music] I'd rather be fishing.
I'd rather be swimming.
I'd rather be laying in the shade than working for some corporate jerk.
I want to drink beer all day long.
Today I want to wake up at the crack of dusk and drink for you and drink for me and the rest of us.
I want a beer for breakfast.
