(upbeat music) - Spy Hop is holding its 25th anniversary benefit, Mission: Is Possible, showcasing youth media through film, music, audio and design.
And our guest today, Education Director Myke Johnson, will tell us more.
Hi, Myke, thanks for being here.
- Thanks for having me.
- So, okay, I want you (laughing) to talk about why you chose the theme Mission: Is Possible.
- (laughing) So we're finally leaning into like the spy theme for the first time because we get calls all the time asking if we sell spy equipment or teach like things around, yeah, it's-- - (laughing) They think you're a spy organization.
(laughing) - They do, they do.
And it's a bizarre phenomenon that kind of happens, but we're finally leaning into it this year for our theme for our annual benefit, so.
- I love it.
And tell me how much you're hoping to raise this year.
- 175,000 this year.
Have big goals.
- Okay, but you usually meet your goal because people love this program.
- They do, they're really supportive of the work that we do.
- Yeah, and how many young people do you hope to serve?
- We serve about 10,000 students a year through all of our programming, and that's in our building and across the state of Utah.
- That is amazing.
This has grown like crazy.
- It really has.
- And what are some of the initiatives you've got coming up?
- So we've got a really cool initiative this year working with the Wake the Great Salt Lake Foundation, or Initiative, and then we've also got our Amplify Black Youth Voice Initiative.
So two big projects that we've got going on right now, yeah, that we're looking for more support in.
- Oh yeah, it's great.
And I know you just continue to grow and grow, and give young people such an amazing opportunity.
And so tell me a little about what's gonna happen at the benefit.
- So the benefit, I mean, it's our one big fundraiser that we do every year, and it's really a great party.
Like that's the thing that we're really known for is we throw a great party.
But it's an opportunity to learn more about the programming that we offer.
There's students that sort of showcase and participate as a part of the night, but it's also just a great, really engaging environment to support the work that's happening in our organization.
- Wonderful.
- It's a fun auction.
- Great, well, thank you so much for what you do and thanks for being here.
Thanks.
- Thanks so much for having me.
- And if you'd like to know more about the upcoming Spy Hop fundraiser, it's their 20th anniversary benefit, Mission: Is Possible, it's April 30th from 6:00 to 9:30 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.
