State Senator Jimmy Higdon is a Republican from Lebanon.
He served in the state House starting in 2003 and moved to the state Senate in 2009.
He spent time as Senate Majority whip and as Senate president pro tem.
He says he will not seek reelection in 2026.
Senate President Robert Stivers offered words of praise for Higdon.
He said, quote, his leadership on transportation, pensions, judicial matters, veterans issues and numerous other areas has made an undeniable difference for Kentucky, and he will leave a lasting legislative legacy deeply woven into the fabric of this Commonwealth and quote.
