If you're coming to town to play, let me show you where to stay.
If you walk to the end of Water Street, you'll find water.
And the Northwest Maritime Center.
And just steps away from that, the Swan Hotel.
Tell me what makes the hotel special?
Well, first of all, it's location, right in the heart of downtown Port Townsend.
And with the waterfront right here and so many great amenities and shops so close.
Also, the hotel is dog friendly.
We partner with the Port Townsend Athletic Club for great options, right here across the street.
And we have 13 unique rooms that include the penthouse, the main hotel and four cottages.
And the cottages like this one have fire places.
Incredible.
Why is this so important to the community?
So the Swan Hotel is owned and operated by Northwest Maritime, which is a nonprofit.
The proceeds from the hotel support the programs and mission of Northwest Maritime.
Wow.
Can we go check out Northwest Maritime?
Let's go.
Let's do it.
This is a working boat shop.
And this is the man who makes it work, Joel.
Can you tell me a bit about the programs that happen here?
Yeah, so we're a functioning boat shop attached to the nonprofit Northwest Maritime.
We offer transformative programing and foundational education programs for youth as young as eight and up to 80.
We do public facing programing for both youth and adults, which include school based programs as well as workshops like we've got going on here, that allow folks to come in and have fun building boats.
Can anyone get involved?
Yeah, as far as the programs go, we have, generally trying to have offerings for, that appeal to lots of different people.
We also have scholarship opportunities, for folks that may need a little help, especially on the tuition side.
Now you know where to stay and play in Port Townsend.
Definitely check out the Northwest Maritime Center.
I'm Angela.
Thank you for exploring.
I'll see ya.
