Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- So Megan is the girl who raises her hand and says that she wants to do a talk at the Sexual Assault Awareness Walk.
And that's where Reyna kind of sees her take a step and is vulnerable.
And that's when her turning point kind of starts just to be more in touch with that and realize that there's somebody out there and there's a community out there.
I wanted her to see somebody speaking up or be comfortable, and you know, I'm comfortable at the same time to speak up and say like, "I'm part of this community.
I'm here."
And her seeing that really changes her, slowly starts to change.
Like, okay, she's thinking I have an ally out there.
There's somebody out there who's fighting the same battle I have or at least you somebody to support.
My real life Megan is a lot of different people, to be honest.
I feel like it's my sister Sage, who played Reyna, somebody that I could go to and have that sense of community with somebody.
And also just all the women in my life, I would say to have somebody to connect with on that level which is really scary to think about that how many people can relate to this topic.
But that's sort of what gave me that drive to keep going with it, to really make this project come through because it's so important.
- April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and I feel like this is the first year that I have seen that teal blue everywhere.
I'm not saying we started it, but I will say it's was really cool to see everybody kind of posting that blue and seeing Albany lit up in that blue.
And it was honestly a really special thing to see.
