[Music] I think we have to as as Educators in schools right we have to understand that culture is so valuable in how students Embrace learning it's important for us to understand that as much as a child is learning in class as soon as you know whatever time hits when they're done with school they're not just turning the learning off they're still learning right they're still sponges they're still gravitating towards you know whatever they feel is you know influencing most right that's culture I think when you think about culture there's trauma in culture whether we like it or not you know there's trauma in culture right whether it be you know um things that's going on outside of our country right uh and vice versa things that are happening inside of our country right trauma exists and I think we have to be upfront about that we need to have a conversation and if we need to bring other people involved again the team is so big right because if we need to bring other people we need to bring other people right the teachers have so much responsibility right that it only makes sense to say hey can I get some some extra eyes on this right can I get some extra hands on this right what do you guys think about X Y and Z right it it saddens me that sometimes we blame the teachers and and say you know it's only the teachers fault and this goes from students to parents Etc right when in reality right the teacher is doing the best they can under the circumstances right at least I would hope so right and so if they are right then we have to look at the team right we have to look the entire team that's a part of this right and so we should be touching base with you know the the team again right the village right that's supporting the student right and so whether that's communication with the parents whether that's communication with the Guardians in general right and being upfront about you know this is a priority that this student gets this material understands X Y and Z and if that parent is on the same page that Guardian is on the same page then before you know it the student is making it to class on time and is staining the entire class period because they see the different people of their Village right who care visit us online at ideast stream.org welcome for more web extras links to resources and to watch the documentary you are welcome creating safe and supportive schools a production of idea stream public media
