Orchestra Hall survived by becoming the Paradise Jazz Theatre

Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald are just some of the iconic performers that have graced Orchestra Hall's stage. In the 1940's, the hall was transformed into the Paradise Jazz Theatre where some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time came to perform, making it one of the most important venues during the decade of black entertainment in Detroit.
