[music] Placid Lassie was built in Long Beach by Douglas Aircraft during World War Two.
One of about almost 11,000 of these airplanes made in the United States.
This airplane pulled a glider on D-Day morning, went back, pulled another one, and then supported the troops through every major airborne operation in World War Two.
This is a real survivor and it's a real honor to fly this airplane.
Placid Lassie has the capability to carry quite a load.
It can carry a lot of people also.
And we can do it in comfort.
Once we get up in the air, people can take their seatbelts off and move around a little bit, look out the different windows and come walk up to the cockpit and see what it's like in flight.
For the rest of the Airshow, we're going to be a static display here.
And the important part of that for Placid Lassie is its heritage.
[music] Gosh, we have fun in this airplane.
We love flying it.
This is the way airplanes started out where you have control feel.
You feel the speed change.
You definitely feel the different weight in the airplane.
It's fantastic to fly.
It's a pleasure.
