So in order to do that, we need all the floor space in here in the DECC Arena.
So that being said, we had to remove all the hockey ice and the dashboard system and all the benches and everything else that are related to the hockey and figure skating ice needed to be removed.
So we can actually reverse the cooling system to provide heat, which helps separate the bond between the concrete and the ice, allowing us to break it up and then push it into the pit.
Ice maintenance is a-- it's a labor of love.
You know, you put so much work and effort into keeping the ice nice and then, you know, it takes days or weeks, even months to get it to where you want it and then in 45 minutes, it magically all disappears.
It's fun to do though.
We get to reset and we'll have a fresh sheet ice starting next Monday when we start reinstalling all this again.
I always think it'd be fun if we could leave the ice in and then give everyone a pair of ice cleats and they can walk around on the ice but that'd just make a little less work on me.
But no, this is a fun process and it gives us an opportunity to have a fresh sheet of ice like I said starting next week for the remainder of the hockey and figure skating season.
