(bright music) - You can usher in the fall at the fourth annual Taylorsville Fall Festival.

Picture this, pottery, demonstrations, family activities, plus pumpkins that you can actually paint.

Susan Yadeskie shares how this free event celebrates all things local and all things fall, right, Susan?

- Absolutely.

- What excites you the most about this year's festival?

- We're doing something new.

We have a potter coming to do a pottery making demonstration.

He actually has ties to Taylorsville.

He's the fourth great-grandson of one of the original settlers.

And we always try to pull that in because we are a historic committee.

- That's amazing.

And you guys also have some hands-on activities for people who want to do their own art as well, right?

- Absolutely.

We always have hands-on activities.

We've grown a pumpkin patch every year.

People are able... Children are able to pick their own pumpkin, paint them.

We have chalk art this year.

We have some face painting this year that we haven't had before.

- [Liz] Along with some fun competitions like the pie eating contest that people are seeing on the screen.

- [Susan] Absolutely.

We've done that every year too.

And we do a drawing so not everybody gets into it and they're excited and so it's hard to pick the right person to be in that.

- What is it like to be at this event and kind of just feel the excitement that people have for fall?

- We do events at the museum for the preservation committee because we feel a real responsibility to bring community together.

And that's exactly what happens here.

The feel is wonderful.

People love coming together.

Free always brings a lot of people in.

And then we take donations because that's how we run our museum.

- Yeah, that's another part of it.

The free part of people being able to afford it, but then also helping the museum as well.

How big of an impact do those donations make for the museum?

- Oh, they have a great impact.

The last year and a half, we renovated and built a learning center.

So it's focused on the history of Taylorsville, but children can come in and see that learning center.

- That's amazing.
