Everything in the world is collage.
You're putting different things together to create one idea.
(suspenseful music) Hi, I am TC and I'm a collage artist from Memphis, Tennessee, and I work with recycled materials.
My mom was a single parent.
I just had to be very resourceful of like things that I already had around me.
Those things ended up being like newspapers and like glue.
Just took what I had and created something out of nothing.
(suspenseful music) And so, I was like, this is something that I want to keep doing and get better at.
A gathering of my thoughts into one place so I can really see how I feel.
(suspenseful music) It is kind of like therapy and I'm getting my feelings out there.
Well, the city of Memphis inspires me, because it has so much rich culture, so many untold stories are in Memphis.
It's my job to get those stories out there and show people and give people an introduction to the world of Memphis.
(suspenseful music) My work does draw back into childhood.
I connected with imaginary friends through watching cartoons and watching different shows.
In my head, those were my friends.
They taught me the life lessons that I needed to learn.
(suspenseful music) I just applied that back to my art and my work.
Some of the things I seen as a kid that I maybe wasn't supposed to see, and just some of the things that just follows me along.
I love to story tell in my art, so it is all about bringing back memory.
I want people to think about home again when they think about my art.
Some of the things that are happening in low-income communities and the subjects are kind of hard to talk about.
Through animation or like the cartoony style of my art messages are more acceptable.
People can actually start a conversation by looking at my art easier.
