LGBTQ history is now required in Illinois public schools.

July 1 marks the first day that public schools in Illinois are required to include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history in their lesson plans. Known as the Inclusion Curriculum Law, it is one of only five such laws across the country, and was signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in 2019.
