(upbeat music) - "PBS Utah's Book Club In A Box" is a free resource for book club hosts designed to bring people together through conversation.
Annie Frazier and Melissa Lynn from PBS Utah are here to tell us about the latest kit.
Okay, ladies, I'm gonna start with you Melissa.
Thanks for being here.
So why don't you give us like what exactly is "Book Club in a Box", and how does it work?
- Yeah, so "Book Club in A Box", as you said is a free resource from PBS Utah.
It really pairs a relevant or popular book with the thought-provoking PBS documentary or show.
So this one's really fun.
It is really good for new or existing book clubs.
It's kind of a toolkit to help them facilitate their book club a bit better.
It provides a really good resource for people who may wanna talk about different topics, but may not know where to start.
So we give them a really great box, and a really great toolkit to be able to do that.
- Oh, great.
It makes it really easy.
And I know we've got a new one.
And Annie, why don't you tell us about the new one, and what you're pairing?
- So it is called Tech Together, and we have the book "Digital for Good.
Raising Children to thrive in a Digital World."
By Richard Culatta.
And then the episode, "More Childhood Please.
And it really talks about tools for managing screen time, minimizing arguments, and also helping children recognize that it's a tool that they can use rather than something that they get punished for or try and sneak around with, and it helps the whole family understand digital media a little bit better.
- Which is great because so many people are so afraid of too much screen time for their kids.
Yes.
They just have to have the right screen time.
- Yes.
So this is a wonderful tool for families to come together, and to decide how to use digital media, and to get on the same page, and also to help children understand the power of digital media rather than just kind of the fear, safety of course is the first priority, but after that, how do we do it?
- Yeah.
Okay.
Well thank you so much for doing it and helping families, and offering those resources.
Thanks for being here.
- Thank you.
