I am your host, Ted Ayres, and on behalf of myself and everyone here at PBS Kansas, thank you for watching.
I am pleased and proud to note that tonight is the 100th episode of Inside the Cover.
Over our four seasons, we have worked hard to bring you information about books and writers and the sheer joy of reading.
Thank you for staying and being with us tonight.
I want to spend time sharing information and thoughts from my 2022 book list.
I have been putting this list together for family and friends for 30 years.
As I note, this year is the Pearl edition.
It is now time to go inside the cover.
I read 114 books in 2022, which was three less than 2021.
But it was a good and satisfying year of reading.
Nonetheless, I never read with a goal of reading so many books.
I just read as I can for the joy and pleasure of doing so.
Let us know if you would like a list of the books that I read in 2022.
Steve Martini leads the list as I worked on completing his complete body of work, and I continue to enjoy the writing of Herman Wouk.
I return to such favorite authors as David Baldacci, Michael Connelly, John Grisham.
James Lee Burke.
Pat Conroy.
Susan Orlean.
H.W.
Brands.
Colleen McCullough.
Tana French.
C.J.
Box.
Louise Erdrich.
Alice Hoffman.
Joyce Carol Oates.
Amor Towles.
and T.C.
Boyle.
New authors of note included Candacy Taylor, Norah Vincent, Joe Posnanski, Wright Thompson and David Maraniss.
As a part of season four of Inside the Cover, we have already reviewed for you the following authors Martini, Wouk, Orlean, Brands, Taylor and Maraniss.
And I hope to bring you more reviews from the 2022 book list in the future.
I would also again remind you that all of our shows are available at the KPTS website.

Of course, I always select my top ten reads of the year and I now want to share those with you.
Interestingly, of my top ten books, there were three fiction and seven nonfiction, which I believe reflects the content of the larger list.
And now presented chronologically.
Here are my top ten reads of 2022.
The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles, the Overground Railroad by Candacy Taylor, South of Broad by Pat Conroy, the Baseball 100 by Joe Posnanski, Sandy Hook by Elizabeth Williamson Pappyland by Wright Thompson Horse by Geraldine Brooks Shoe Dog by Phil Knight.
Path Lit by Lightning by David Maraniss.
Broken Heart of America by Walter Johnson.
I give Honorable Mention to On Animals by Susan Orlean, The Last Campaign by H.W.
Brands and J.C. Penney by David Delbert Kruger.
In recent years, I have also begun sharing notable quotations that I have seen during the year.
Some of my favorites from 2022 include: Do you keep track of your reads during the year?
If not, I suggest you might enjoy doing so, particularly at the end of the year.
That's our show.
I hope to see you next time right here on PBS Kansas, the home of seriously good TV.
Good night.
