Above the castle walls, the ancient necromancy meets with members of the magic round table.
Come with us now to the secret room of Merlin.
- Welcome, welcome once more to my secret room.
It's nice to see you again.
I'm glad you could come.
I have many letters here from my round table members today, but before I discuss any of them, I must tell you, you know, Chauncey the clown.
He's that funny fellow that does silly things sometimes.
Well, he claims that he is now a strong man.
That's right.
A strong man with big muscles, and that he can lift a 500 pound weight off the ground and put it over his head.
Let's see if he can do it, shall we?
I present it this time.
My good friend Chauncey the clown.
Chauncey, you being, I know that's a little weight, but it's Oh, it is heavy.
You can lift that over your head.
I don't think you're that strong, Chauncey.
No, I don't, I don't think he can do it, do you?
No.
Oh, oh, oh my.
That's terrible.
Chauncey.
Get those arms fixed.
I hope he goes to the doctor and, and does something about that.
That is just, just terrible.
Oh, that his arms were twice their normal length.
I beg your pardon?
Did he hurt himself?
No, not, not really.
I suspect that Chauncey was playing a little joke on us.
It just looked that way because sometimes our, our eyes do play tricks on us, don't they?
I was mentioning these letters.
Well, you see so many over, over 7,000, the past eight months that I can't read all of them naturally, but I can maybe mention one or two, the ones I get just before I come into the Secret Room, because we get letters from Los Angeles, Washington, DC and from Lake Erie all the way to Tampa, Florida.
And I have one, well, this is rather funny.
This shows, this shows Chauncey the Clown being stabbed by Excalibur.
That didn't really happen either, but it, it kind of looked that way.
But one young lady from whom I received a letter, Laura Ann mcd, asked if she could be on the show.
Well, she or anyone could be on the show if they write and tell me of the good deed they've done.
It's just a matter of living close enough to our, our studio right here in Ohio.
If you're in Los Anderson coming through, if you write me, most certainly you can be on the show.
So if you'd like to become a member of the magic Round table, it's very simple as many of these people have found out.
Just write to Merlin in care of this station and tell me the good deed you've done, and I'll send you your little miniature magic wand and your membership card right now.
It's time to make the mighty Sword Excalibur rise.
Will you help me?
Very well.
Let's, let's all do it together.
Ready, fiddly, die fiddly.
D magic sword rise for me.
And the magic word today is spelled T-E-E-T-H. Teeth.
Teeth are mighty important to each and every one of us.
Adults have as many as 32 teeth.
Real old people don't have 32 teeth.
I don't, of course, I'm 80 years old and real young people don't have that many teeth, but your permanent teeth.
Number 32, if they're healthy and normal, I'm gonna draw a picture here.
What do you think I'm drawing?
What do you think this might be?
Well, I'll put some ears on there and that'll, that'll give you, that'll give you a little cue, won't it?
As to what it, what it might be.
And I'll just put some big eyes here.
They're looking over in this direction over that way.
And a nose of course, and a very special, happy mouth.
I like, I like happy mouths, mouths that smile.
I like to call this the, the smile of health.
You know why I call it the smile of health?
Because this fellow has such lovely white, shiny teeth.
I'll put some freckles on him.
He's a regular healthy boy.
I suspect that he's happy because he has such nice teeth and if he has good clean white teeth, I'm certain that he takes very good care of them.
You see teeth, if we would break them down individually, would look something like this in your gums.
I'll just draw a few teeth, alright?
I'm not going to draw all of them, just, just a few.
Alright?
There is a tooth proper in the gum.
The roots come down below the gum.
If they're healthy, they hold the tooth in place.
But if you, if you don't clean between your teeth right here and get all that food out after every meal, you might lose a tooth.
And what would happen then?
What would happen then to the smile of health?
Well, if you lose a tooth might look something like that.
Nobody wants that to happen to them, do they?
I'm gonna talk a little further about what you might do, what you might actually do to protect your teeth.
Three very important steps to tooth care.
There's a gentleman that you should all know, and the gentleman of whom I speak is this man right here.
Very friendly person.
He dresses in a white coat, he's a dentist.
You're a friendly dentist and you should see him at least.
How frequently do you imagine?
Well, you should see your dentist at least once a year and preferably twice a year, every six months.
And you can do it by just using this little device known as a telephone.
Call your dentist and make an appointment in advance and he'll be happy to see you and tell you how to keep your teeth strong and healthy.
See your dentist once a year.
That's one important thing.
Secondly, eat healthy foods.
If you must piece or munch between meals, eat fruit, have an apple.
Don't eat candy with a lot of sugar, particularly hard candy or, or chewing gum.
Have some fruit.
An apple is good.
And lastly, and perhaps most important, as I mentioned earlier, clean your teeth regularly, at least three times a day and clean your teeth properly By proper brushing, I don't mean rubbing the brush back and forth like this.
I mean going up and down and twisting between the teeth.
Have a sensible diet.
Three good meals a day, don't piece on candy.
And of course, regular What?
Regular dental care.
I have a package in the secret room.
Yes, a big box.
And I think I know what's in this box.
I believe that it was sent to me from the 20th century.
I don't see any label on the outside of the box.
It's so heavy.
But if I can just turn it around.
It says, turn the box over and look inside.
Let's do that, shall we?
I'll just turn it over and look inside.
But there's, there's nothing in the box.
And I thought it was going to be Laura Ann mcd dog from the 20th century.
Oh, it says also clap your hands three times.
Would you step out?
You're, you're, you're Michael LaPage.
You're not Laura Ann.
- I know.
- Where's Laura Ann mcd dark.
- She's in the box.
- She's in the box.
Well, why didn't you introduce her to me right away?
You don't even look like a girl.
If she's in there, would you, would you please introduce Laura to me?
- Okay.
Merlin.
- Alright.
Laura, are you sure she's in here?
- I'm sure.
- Laura, would you, Laura, come on out, honey.
Merlin, nice to see you.
Yes.
- May I present?
Laura Ann McDough.
- Hi Laura Ann, this is Mike.
The page how shake hands you two.
I have a board over here that I wonder if you'd be good enough to hold.
It was given to me by, by an Egyptian magician.
And he told me if I put the hand on there, Laura, it would answer questions.
For example, if it wants to say yes, it knocks once.
And if it wants to say no, it knocks twice.
Let's see if it works.
I'm gonna ask the hand if it hears me.
I'm going to ask the hand if it hears me.
And if it hears me, it will do what?
Knock once.
It'll knock once like that, which means yes.
Oh, hand of Ferra.
Do you hear me?
He said yes.
The hand hears me.
Let's try it again.
Is Laura Almighty hand?
Is Laura a pretty girl?
Yes, it means she's pretty.
Am I pretty?
Yes.
Don't say no.
I'm not unattractive, am I?
No.
Will Laura get married?
Yes.
How many children will she have?
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
Let me take that hand away.
Mike, would you take, get rid of this hand.
Seven children is enough for any family, and I don't think you should have.
You're not married now, are you really?
No.
No, honey, would you go over the round table and sit over there and I'll join you in just a moment.
You know Laura Ann, you have very, very pretty teeth.
How many times do you brush your teeth a day?
- Three times a day.
- Three times a day.
Do you how?
Well, I'm not gonna tell you the right way.
You tell me the right way to brush your teeth - Up and down, - Up and down to get between the cracks of the teeth.
That's very important.
You, you also told me, and I'm interested in this because we're interested in good deeds.
You told me you, you do have a pretty smile.
You told me that you did a good deed today.
What was it?
- Made my bed.
- You made your bed.
You do that every day.
Well, because you did a very special good deed.
I would like you to have this miniature magic wand that belongs to George Z Genie.
He has quite a few right there.
Would you take that?
And this membership card to the magic round table, it says that Laura Ann McDo is a member in good standing of the magic round table.
So please take that honey under this thinking cap, which I want you to have is a pair of teeth right here?
No.
Well, they're funny, aren't they?
Yeah.
No, nobody wants to wear false teeth if they don't have to.
But these talks sometimes they make a funny noise.
Listen, no.
Stop.
Stop.
That's enough noise.
I'm gonna put this cigarette in the mouth of the teeth because that will stop them from wrapping.
I don't think people should eat candy or they should smoke cigarettes.
But the the puzzle I want to ask you is, can you take these teeth out from under the hat?
- No.
- Without touching the hat.
- No.
- I can take the teeth out from under the hat without touching it.
Do you believe that?
You know how I can do it hat the teeth are gone.
Lift the hat up and see they're not gone.
But I took the teeth out without touching the hat because I tricked you.
You play that on your daddy sometime.
I think we have just time for a riddle.
You had the most wonderful riddle before we came in the secret room.
I think everyone should know.
What is that riddle?
Do you remember about it was something about a dream a night, something.
- What's a nightmare?
- What is a nightmare?
A nightmare is a dream.
- No.
- What is it?
- A milk man's horse.
- Oh, milk man's horse.
Goodbye.
We'll see you later.
Wave goodbye to our friends out there.
Goodbye.
