I actually had a, a really, as did so many people, if not everybody, I had an incredibly tough year with a lot of personal highs and lows.
And I kind of, I was driving home one day and I pulled in and you know, you see your eyes in the rear view mirror, and it was one of those things.
It was kind of a pep talk for myself, initially.
I was like, "Candace, everything's just changing.
You'll be fine.
You're gonna change too.
Everybody's going through it.
It's a universal, you know, experience and that's okay."
And from that, the chorus quite literally was born.
Changin', yeah, we're all just changin', look around, it's happening everywhere.
And then, a mutual friend of all of ours who is also the producer of our new record coming out, Johan, he happened to be coming by my house one day and I was like, "I have this new tune."
And I had probably, I don't know, maybe half or more of it done, but I really hadn't finalized the shape of it yet.
And so I was playing it for him and then we just kind of started bouncing it off of each other and it came to fruition and finalization really quickly on that day.
And then, I kind of brought it to the band and everybody was like, "Yeah, man.
Cool, cool."
You know, and, and then putting the harmonies on it and everything really brought it to life and made it special, but it was, it's a song derived out of a pep talk and realizing that there was nobody not going through this.
And, if I could shape it as something to embrace, versus crumble under, then it was a lot more bearable.
- Yeah, just growing up in Prescott, it was always, you know, music is just everywhere and you know, my mom was a therapist so it helped to get me started on my path.
But then I met Drew pretty shortly after that, started taking lessons from him as like a 11 year old kid, took that for a few years and then met Johan, like she said, and we started creating music together.
And yeah, it's just been what I've been doing since the start, so, yeah, we're lucky to have it in our city.
Drew.
- It's true.
No, we, it's very true.
Prescott's very unique in that there's a lot of places to play music and there's a lot of support from the community.
You know, you put on a show and people will show up, and they will support, and they'll be paying attention, and they, you know, they treat everything like a show, and you get to know everyone personally.
It is a smaller town but it's definitely a music city with a ton of talent, and we're very fortunate to, to live there and to have had our start there.
