This is my exhibition “Interlaced ”, where I did a call out to the community looking for textiles.

And so everything in the show is created and completed with donations.

I've always been a textile fiber based artist.

I love when I have these textiles that have a story to them and an age to them and a life to them that has lived longer than even I've been around.

I got like, hats, I got pillow cases, I got a bunch of clothing, fabric scraps.

I get textiles from somebody.

I kind of catalog everything that I got from somebody out of a whole spreadsheet.

And then I would cut about a square this big, and I would slowly unravel it piece by piece.

So it's a very slow and methodical process that goes into it.

I went to school here in Duluth, and then I moved away for grad school and I just moved back in about 2021.

So it was a way for me to get connected back into meeting people, engaging people, and connecting with other artists in my community.

And I just got a huge response from a lot of people that wanted to be a part of it.

And I made some really great connections.

So that was something that was a really great bonus out of doing this and being able to bring an event where people can come together until celebrated in their own stories woven with other members in our community.
