(Gentle music) - For the 10th year, Heart & Soul, along with the neighbors surrounding the Imperial Park area, will be presenting the Heart & Soul Music Stroll Festival.
Here with all the details is Board President, Tom Stillinger.
Welcome, Tom.
- Thank you very much.
- So tell us what is the Music Stroll?
- The Music Stroll is a special event that Heart and Soul does once a year.
Heart & Soul generally is an organization that's, we've been around for 30 years, celebrating a big anniversary.
We send musicians into care communities and senior centers and all sorts of places where people might have trouble getting out to hear live music.
Generally, a lot of what we do isn't really open to the public by its nature and so once a year we have this big outdoor festival.
We have 40 musicians, 40 acts, I should say, on yards and driveways and front porches around this lovely neighborhood, just far apart enough that people can walk around and hear them and the sound doesn't overlap and there's food trucks and it's just a glorious day for everyone.
- Can you share some of the acts that we might be able to see this year?
- There's the Smoke and Blues Band.
There's Jacks and Jills, featuring the founder of Heart & Soul, Janna Lauer will be the closing act.
There's a big closing act in Imperial Park.
- [Liz Adeola] And all different kinds of genres of music, right?
- [Tom Stillinger] All different genres.
Jazz, folk, blues, rock and roll.
What am I missing?
Bluegrass, - lots of great stuff.
- All sort sorts of things, yeah, yeah.
- Things that will get people dancing and having a good time.
- Dancing and tapping their feet and it's just, it is a great time, yeah.
- And another thing that happens there are food trucks, right?
- There are food trucks, there's raffles, there's people walking around just having a great time.
- [Liz Adeola] So a wonderful time for the entire family.
- Yeah.
- How long have you been performing with Heart & Soul - Me?
18 years it turns out, I had to look it up, but with different groups, I play bass, so I'm in a bunch of different groups.
- That's an incredible amount of time helping other people and spreading the joy of music here in Utah.
- Yeah, it's so much fun for the musicians that you're right, it is helping people, but it's helping us too, so.
- Well, thank you so much for being here.
