(bright music) - You can take a trip around the world without ever having to leave the Beehive State.
With dances from Latin America to Thailand and activities for the kids, the Multicultural Dance & Arts Festival celebrates the richness of culture around the world.
Now, I begged Maddie Scott to teach me a dance or two, but she's like, "I'm not the one."
Like, "Ask my sister, I'm a volunteer."
And that is okay.
There's so much to chat about what people can expect this year, right?
- Yeah, definitely.
So the first important thing, I think, is a change of location.
So if you've come in the past, we're at a new place this year.
We'll be at the J. Lynn Crane Park in Herriman.
- Okay.
And you said there's also some new activities and new additions to the festival, as well?
- Yeah.
We'll have food trucks this year with food vendors from around the world, such as Venezuela, and what are some others, Mexican, just all the yummy, delicious food we have here.
- I love that.
And you guys are also looking for volunteers, I hear.
- Yeah, we are.
So if you go to our website, you can click the link that says Volunteer opportunities and look out for us next year if you want to be involved as a vendor or a performer.
- What motivates you to stay involved and to volunteer and be a part of the board of this organization year after year?
- Well, the organization itself brings communities together so that we can understand and appreciate each other and the cultures that we have.
And I just love seeing the dances and the arts and crafts from around the world.
And it's all right here in Utah.
- Yeah, you never have to leave or book a ticket or a flight or anything like that.
Very affordable, right, for families.
- Yeah.
Yeah.
And there will be some activities for kids, some hands-on arts and crafts.
I know there will be some Turkish crafts.
And then for those who like henna tattoos, you can do that, even eyebrow threading.
- Oh, wow.
Well, that sounds incredible.
Thank you so much for sharing that information.
If you would like to participate and see all the dances and all the entertainment, you can go to emeraldhillsinstitute.org for more information about the 23rd Multicultural Dance & Arts Festival.
That's May 23rd from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m.
at a new location, J. Lynn Crane Park.
