And this year, they're celebrating their 10th birthday.
I can't wait to show you around.
One of the unique things about the Cascadia Art Museum is that they publish a book every year, based on one of the current exhibits.
The books are all written by curator David F Martin, and it gives us all a chance to take a little bit of the museum home with us.
We're here in the Garvey Family Gallery, and I'm speaking with Executive Director Sally.
Sally, can you tell me what makes the museum so special?
Yeah.
Cascadia is a really special museum.
We're the regional art museum for this area here in the northwest, and we focused on artists from 1870 to about 1970.
Can you tell me a little bit about the Garvey Family Exhibit?
Yeah, we're very excited about the Garvey Family Gallery and this amazing collection that has been gifted to us by the Garvey family.
And some of these, beautiful paintings, as you see, predate the 1870 mark that we tend to, exhibit.
So this is almost like the, the beginning or the precursor of the artwork and the artists that we typically show.
That sounds like a very special gift.
Yes, it is a very special gift.
And we're indebted to the Garvey family for the gift of this amazing, beautiful artwork, but also for a very significant financial gift that is moving the museum forward, especially as we're celebrating our ten year anniversary that happens in 2025.
So a lot to look forward to.
Wonderful.
Well, I can't wait to check ou..
I'm Angela.
Thank you for exploring.
I'll see you.
