(geese honking) The colonists could not have settled Jamestown, George Washington could not have beaten the British, and farmers could not have gotten their crops to market.
(carriage rattling) (tranquil music) And work plowing our fields and pulling our carriages and river boats.
(tranquil music) Through war and in peace, the horse has served us with quiet determination and nobility, and he's not been recognized.
Somehow in the history of our times, the horse has become a sporting character, and we've forgotten the role that he played in the forging of our country.
But the horse was as critical to the opening of America as the steam engine was to the Industrial Revolution in England.
We could not have done it without horses.
