Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipToday, we're exploring Pratt Fine Arts Center and located on the site of a historical landmark.
I am proud to report it is just as wonderful today.
Let's go meet Jessica, the Executive Director.
This is Jessica, the executive director of Pratt Fine Arts Center.
Jessica, can you tell me a little bit about Pratt?
Absolutely.
So, Pratt Fine Arts center.
We've been around for almost 50 years.
Our 50th will be in 2026.
And we're actually named after Edwin T Pratt, who was a civil rights leader here in Seattle, advocating for equal housing and education.
Obviously, we're not a housing organization.
We're an arts organization.
But education being first and foremost and really letting that be an equitable space for anybody.
We teach everyone from five years old to 105 in our various studios.
So when you come to Pratt, you are able to take classes in wood, printmaking, painting, drawing, jewelry, blacksmithing, metal, glass, three different forms of glass, basically anything under the sun you can do here at Pratt Fine Arts, and you can do so with the assistance of professional artists.
We employ over 100 artists here in Seattle, and we are working with students and those that are maybe thinking that they're .. as well as artists that are beginning to grow their career and practice.
That's so awesome.
I cannot wait to check out you..
I'm Angela.
Thanks for exploring.
I'll see you.
