The memorial is located along the Lakewalk and is a literal shelter from storms honoring the 136 area men lost in Vietnam. The memorial stands strong since 1992 despite all the inclement weather thrown its way as it's located right beside Lake Superior.

The bunker faces the creation of the sun as it rises out of Lake Superior to the East and on the opposite edge of the circle is the wall commemorating the lives lost to us.
Five fingers coming over the top represent the five branches of the service with their emblems embedded in the ends of the fingers.
In the abstract, they give this semblance to waves off the lake breaking over the Memorial.
The viewing ports in the front of the bunker will allow visitors to take shelter inside the bunker during inclement weather and still be able to take in the beauty of the lake when the weather is at its extreme.

Read them with your fingertips.
Read them with your eyes.
Read them in your heart.
