Steve Oreck, Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of History at UW-Madison, explains how the influenza epidemic of 1918 affected the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Student Army Training Corp (SATC). SATC personnel were stationed at the university before being sent abroad to fight in World War I, carrying the virus to Europe with them.
