Matt Sparapani and Alison Newberry weren’t planning to be in Chicago in the summer of 2020. But like many of us, these schoolteachers had to rethink their plans. For years, they have used their summers off to take on the greatest hikes in the world. In 2020, however, they were forced by the pandemic to stay closer to home — and it’s changed their opinion about the natural beauty of Chicago.
