Mary Todd, future wife of Abraham Lincoln, was born December 13th, 1818, in Lexington.
She married Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois, in 1842.
Happy birthday to Isaac Shelby.
Kentucky's first governor was born December 11, 1750, in the Maryland colony.
He served as Kentucky's first governor from 1792 until 1786, and he served as Kentucky's fifth governor from 1812 to 1816.
While commanding troops during the war of 1812, he died in 1826.
Speaking of governors, William J.
Fields became governor on December 11th, 1923, known as Honest Bill from Oliver Hill.
He increased the gas tax to pay for his highway program.
He's also known as the governor who kept dairy cows on the governor's mansion lawn.
Colonel Harland Sanders, the man synonymous with world famous Kentucky Fried Chicken, died December 16th, 1980, although the team had already played games there.
Lexington's Rap Arena was officially dedicated as the University of Kentucky's home court on December 11th, 1976.
Kentucky Beat Kansas 9263.
Louisville native Muhammad Ali fought his last fight on December 11th, 1981.
He lost to Trevor Berbick in ten rounds in the Bahamas.
Ali's final record as a boxer was 56 wins, six losses.
