Thousands of Catalans oppose secession from Spain

Hundreds of thousands of pro-union Catalans took to the streets of Barcelona on Sunday, following last month’s independence referendum in the autonomous region of Catalonia. Spain's central government has asserted direct control over Catalonia and dismissed its leaders while calling for new elections.
