The department says the universities may be in violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by offering scholarships intended for undocumented students.
The investigations are based on complaints from the Legal Insurrection Foundation's Equal Protection Project.
In a statement, the group's founder said, quote, protecting equal access to education includes protecting the rights of American born students.
Discrimination against American born students must not be tolerated, unquote.
Additionally, investigators will also examine the U of L Don Wilson Scholarship for LGBTQ plus students of color.
And the Louisville Tango Festival Scholarship for Latino and Hispanic students.
And response.
So you have all spokesperson said the school was made aware of the investigation on Tuesday and that the university is reviewing the claims.
