Wind-up Toys
Special | 1m 1s
Since the 4th Century B.C., wind-up toys have entertained and enchanted.
The first modern wind-up toys were made in Europe during the 15th century for wealthy aristocrats. It wasn’t until the late 19th century, that cheaper massed produced tin wind-up toys were made widely available to children. After World War Two, plastic and electric toys became more popular and in the 1960s, the invention of cheap alkaline batteries sounded the death knell for wind-up toys.
