Were Timeworm and this first song is called “The Speed We Spin...” Well youre right Everybody wants The biggest piece of the pie I pick daises, maybe I'm not that kind of guy You see red Not baby blue in my blood Well okay You gotta be different If you want me to stay Like someone else completely Why do you have to say Im crazy When you know were out of love?
It's me [Its me] You win [You win] I always thought Youd go back to him The speed [The speed] we spin Away from each other Is pulling me back to Earth I regret Eating every morsel Of the fish that we net Warning signs abundant It's on me to be better Forget her When the love I gave, she took So dont bother Asking for more money You know I'm not your father Ancient history, we got No place in this modern life I guess Ill read it In the books Its me [It's me] You win [You win] I always thought Youd go back to him The speed [The speed] we spin Away from each other Pulling me back to Earth Where I long to be Back to Earth Where I long to be... Back to Earth Where I long to be... Back to Earth Where I long to be... Back to Earth Where I long to be... Oooohhhh Oooohhhh Oooohhh Back to Earth Where I long to be.... Back to Earth Where I long to be... Back to Earth Where I long to be... Dont come after me It's pulling me back [thumping music] Dont be the rabbit Be the speed At which she travels Endlessly Dont be the island Be the wind Shaping sand by Breathing in Make those trees Sing your song Dont be the rubber Be the road You want to travel Make it so Don't be the embers Be the flames Burning brightly Taking names Burn so hot You wish you were cold Dont be, Dont be, Dont be, Don't be Don't be, Don't be, Dont Be Dont be Dont be the wizard Be the witch Brewing potions Like a -- Oooo Don't be the closed book Be the page Share your secrets Make a change Ahhhhh Whooo!
My names J. I. Gassen, lead singer and drummer of Timeworm.
The way Timeworm sound comes together like... it's us four as people, blending our perspectives and interests into a fifth thing.
Like you wouldn't want to be in a relationship where someone is exactly the same as you.
You know, you-- we all stretch each other in different ways and bring different things to the band, and it's cool because it's all additive and it creates something like better than any of us individually.
My love It takes too many seconds ‘Til the minutes up Complete me with your lovin Come and fill my cup It runneth over with Some old romantic stuff My love Love like crown shyness Waiting for the one [Waiting for the one] River for the sun to shine through My Royal Highness My canopy of stars [Canopy of stars] Close but yet so far from you My love I know it hurts to lose Someone you never knew To find the future that you Had in mind untrue Your world just out of reach And almost out of view My love Love like crown shyness Waiting for the one [Waiting for the one] River for the sun to shine though My royal highness Canopy of stars [Canopy of stars] Close but yet so far from you Take it away.
Ooooo If you left me tomorrow I wouldnt be surprised [I wouldnt be surprised] You know I can't lie so easy [My royal highness] Would you want me to follow?
Please give me a sign [Please give me a sign] Lay it on the line for me [crown shyness] If you cant for a moment [crown shyness] Then leave me But let me enjoy this Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa Whoa I love “Crown Shyness”, a ton.
Its one of my favorites.
Theres this concept, found it on like a Wikipedia deepdive.
Um, crown shyness is like this phenomenon with similar and different species of trees canopies will not touch at the top, and it looks like kind of a river that's going through all these trees.
I saw an opportunity to use it as a metaphor for like two people that are close but like, are never touching, never quite land.
That called for it to be a duet sort of thing.
So Indy takes, the lead vocals on the second verse, and it's like we're kind of talking to each other and singing about each other and with and against each other and, and it kind of has this, like, longing feel.
Um, but yeah, it all started with this like tree, Wikipedia rabbit hole that I went down.
Other people are always cooler than you Other people are always cooler than you [Other people] Other people Other people are always cooler than you Other people are always cooler than you But there's no universal cool Oohhh Early morning is a special time Early morning is a special time [early morning] Early morning Early morning is a special time Early morning is a special time I miss it when I hit the snooze Ooohhh Other people Other people Other people Other people Other people are always cooler than you Other people Other people Other people Other people Other people are always cooler than you I got into it because I love music.
And I started learning songs that I loved.
And then I started making songs I loved by myself.
And now I'm making songs I love with other people.
So I think just, you know, as long as there's an audience of one, yourself, who is having fun or likes the song or likes the part that you wrote, then like it's possible to be liked by other people too.
And then for me with this, it was just finding other people that love music too and wanted to do something.
Jamming and playing with other people gives it this like other life, and you're not stuck in your head and you have this chemistry that's unspoken with people, and it builds over time and it's really fun.
So, find a person to jam with, write a song you think is funny or you love, or it's super dramatic or, you know, just follow what you like to do and, with an instrument, itll, it'll be a good time.
Na, na, Na, na, na na na na na na na na na na When spring time calls to summer I wonder if the zephyr phones your number Then hangs it up as autumn falls to winter To dial tones and silent snow, a picture This moment is right I wanna glide across your hills Fly only where your valleys will me to Whoa Is there a place for me?
Can I be evergreen Like you?
Like you To our burning sun forever Your quincentennium of lifes an ember Impossible to know your understanding If I didn't know better Id abandon This moment tonight I want to glide across your hills Fly only where your valleys will me to Woohoo Is there a place for me?
Can I be evergreen Like you?
Like you Like you Na na na na na na na na na.
Na na na na na.
naaaa na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na naaaa na na na na na na na Na na na na na na na na na na na Ponderosa you know I pine for the sky Like you do Endless blue Where the tallest trees will grow But today I must make My way home on my own I hate to goooo Ponderosa my love Aaaahhhhhh Favorite lyric?
This is kind of a silly one from Ponderosa that we played.
I wrote this word down, quincentennium, which means like 500 years, when I learned that ponderosa pines lived to be 500 years old.
I learned that there's a word for that, quincentennium, and it's like a 15 letter word.
There's no business like putting that in a song.
And I found a way to, like, fit it into the verse in a way that made rhythmic sense.
So that's kind of like a fun little Easter egg.
And I'm always, like, writing weird words down to squeeze uh, in a way you might not even know.
So hard to find another way in Feels good at first, but regret will win That fishing liner Interwined her Swallowed by the waves Straight to the bottom of his line Caught in the mire, short is time Barley forgot him [Barley forgot him] Cant live without him [Cant live without him] On the mind for so long So long, so long Ohh oh ohhh He gave her more [He gave her more] Than she bargained for Drought is his rain, her reservoir That fishing liner Frankenstein her Resurrects the worst Straight to the bottom of his line Caught in the mire, short is time Barley forgot him [Barley forgot him] Cant live without him [Cant live without him] On the mind for so long So long So long
