Latino Public Broadcasting is the leader of the development, production, acquisition and distribution of non-commercial educational and cultural media that is representative of Latino people, or addresses issues of particular interest to Latino Americans.[MAN SPEAKING SPANISH] WOMAN: SO THE HOMETOWN ASSOCIATIONS ARE PART OF THE NETWORK THAT WE WORK WITH IN THE CONSULATE, AND MANY OF THEM ARE COMING EVERY FRIDAY NOT ONLY TO HELP US, YOU KNOW, LIFT THE BOXES AND DISTRIBUTE THE FOOD, BUT ALSO THEY ARE TAKING SOME OF THOSE TO THE PEOPLE THAT ARE MOST VULNERABLE IN THE COMMUNITIES.
WOMAN: SO EVERYONE NEEDS THINGS TO PAY THEIR RENT, TO PAY THEIR BILLS, TO GET FOOD FOR EVERYONE ELSE, BUT WE HAVE A REALLY SPECIAL SITUATION.
HE WAS DIAGNOSED WHEN HE WAS SIX MONTHS, WHICH IS DRAVET SYNDROME.
SO HE STARTED MEDICATIONS WHERE WE HAVE TO PAY FOR HIS MEDICATIONS, PAY FOR HIS ALTERNATIVE MEDICATION, SO IT HAS BEEN DIFFICULT.
IT HAS BEEN REALLY DIFFICULT FOR US.
INDARA HERNANDEZ: AND WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY INCOME COMING IN, AND WE ACTUALLY DIDN'T QUALIFY ALSO FOR THE GOVERNMENT.
WE WERE... [LAUGHS] WE WERE KIND OF WORRIED, LIKE REALLY WORRIED, BECAUSE HE HAS A LOT OF NEEDS, ESPECIALLY THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA.
IT'S KIND OF EXPENSIVE.
SO IF WE DON'T GIVE IT TO HIM, HE WILL START HAVING SEIZURES.
