I WILL SEND IT BACK TO YOU.
>> JOANNA, THANK YOU.
>>> TALK ABOUT A RUDE AWAKENING.
IF YOU ARE A LIGHT SLEEPER OR SOMEONE WHO WORKS OVERNIGHT, THE SOUND OF A GARBAGE TRUCK BACKING DOWN YOUR ALLEY IS NOT MUSIC TO YOUR EARS.
>> WE FOLLOWED UP ON A TIP FROM A VIEWER ABOUT A GARBAGE HAULER MAKING FOUR SEPARATE PICKUPS.
CHICAGO TONIGHT'S NICK LUMBERED REPORTS.
>> IN A QUIET RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, A GARBAGE TRUCK BEGAN BACKING DOWN THE ALLEY.
UNDER CHICAGO'S NOISE ORDINANCE, TRASH HAULERS ARE BANNED FROM WORK BETWEEN 10:00 P.M. AND 7:00 A.M. >> A LITTLE AFTER 6: 30 AND THIS IS THE THIRD PICKUP WE HAVE SEEN.
>> WTTW NEWS REACHED OUT TO THE COMPANY.
IN AN EMAIL, THE DISTRICT MANAGER SAID, QUOTE, WE TAKE ALL CONCERNS SERIOUSLY TO REMEDY ANY ISSUES AS THEY COME UP.
ALL OF OUR ROUTES ARE DESIGNED TO COMPLY WITH ALL ORDINANCES.
>> IT IS PRETTY NOISY WHEN IT IS RIGHT OUTSIDE AND IT IS REALLY DISRUPTIVE.
WHILE IT MAY SEEM TRIVIAL, SLEEP DISRUPTION CAN MESS UP YOUR WHOLE DAY.
>> ALDERWOMAN SAID THAT HER OFFICE WAS GETTING COMPLAINTS ABOUT TWO PICKUPS.
>> THE OTHER COMPANY, WE ARE STILL GETTING SPORADIC COMPLAINTS.
WE HAVE TO LOOK AT WHAT TYPES OF FINES MIGHT NEED TO BE LEVIED IN ORDER TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF.
>> THE CITY DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE CENTRALIZED DATA ON HOW MANY OF THESE CLAIMS THEY RECEIVE, SINCE THEY ARE SPREAD ACROSS OFFICES AND DEPARTMENTS.
BUT THEY SAY THAT SINCE IT IS A LOCALIZED ISSUE, A LOCALIZED APPROACH IS OFTEN BEST.
>> IT IS HARD TO SAY WHETHER IT IS A SPECIFIC DRIVER ON THE ROUTE THAT IS IGNORING THINGS.
HAVING THIS IS A CONTINUED ISSUE IS WHY WE HAVE AN ORDINANCE AROUND NOISE, SO THAT PEOPLE CAN GET A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP.
>> FOR CHICAGO TONIGHT, I AM IN BLUMBERG.
>> FOR ITS PART, THE DEPARTMENT SAYS THEY TAKE COMPLAINTS
