I'm Joe Casey, co-owner of the Ward Trading Card Company.
Hi, I'm Tom Casey.
I'm the co-owner of Ward, the Trading Card Company.
We always go out to our cabin up in northern Minnesota on Side Lake, and we'll have kind of our nerd weekend where we play video games, card games, board games.
And that's the whole goal of the weekend is just having fun and being geeky with each other.
So I decided that we're going to try and just kind of mess around and make our own card game and there's always kind of a style that I wanted to have where it was more of kind of a back and forth battle between two creatures rather than just my creature beats yours.
After that weekend of playing and how fun it was kind of inspired us as a group to kind of be like, We had fun with this.
Maybe we should see if other people would like this as well.
At our very first tournament, when we're sitting there, we're watching all these people playing it and they're discussing card ideas and they're discussing strategies and, you know, complementing the art.
And I had to pull Tom aside for a second, just like, hey, just look at this.
Like, all these people are having just a blast playing something that we just kind of came up with and we thought it was just going to be for us.
