PFAS chemicals have left Spokane's West Plains residents without safe drinking water.Before I got here, I was making really good money.
I had a good job.
Three children, husband that was in the military.
My husband went to tours in Iraq.
He died in 2005.
Two years after he died of cancer in a.
My children were teenagers and my son joined the Navy.
And, my oldest daughter went to college to be a social worker.
And my youngest daughter was still at home, and, I had to sell everything, had surgery.
So I didn't have insurance.
My youngest daughter and I became.
And I struggled to get her into college.
And the military gave me what they could.
Living in my car by myself for a long time and to make coffee and, pull me out of that.
we've been on the streets for about five years.
That was not by any means street smart at all.
I've been to college.
I have a double master's.
And God doesn't help you when you're homeless and I'm 53 years old, and I just couldn't be out in the cold anymore.
And so Corey started calling shelters.
Revie was the only one that said that they might have something.
And so we came in that day for an interview and, sat down with Kim and in the middle of the interview, she came in as somebody came in and said, we have better available.
And, we heard one beg.
And so Corey told him, well, can you take Cathy he looked at him and says, we have beds available.
So within minutes we were in this shelter and we've been here ever since,
