Laurie Nelson is an attorney with Ropes & Gray’s real estate investments and transactions group. She worked at Reginald F. Lewis’s law firm as a student summer associate and later as an early career associate. Lewis was her first mentor. She describes him as a perfectionist who pushed his team and recounts Lewis’ desire for his success to transcend race in a world that was not color-blind.
